It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Cesar and I spent a week in Colorado with my family, and upon our return I promptly got sick. Well, not before we completely rearranged our apartment and purchased a new, grown-up, non-IKEA or Target brand couch. The top picture here is the style, the bottom picture is the color and fabric. What do you get when you put the two together? The best couch of all time … ALL TIME. If there were an award show for couches, and the award went to a gangly blond country couch … well, you know where I’m going with this.
We may be doing our nesting and wedding thing in reverse order, but this is a forever couch. And we are so excited to have it!

Despite a few moments of hesitation, (read: here and here) I’ve had a pretty clear vision of my personal wedding look. Not included in that vision is any sort of long veil. No waist length, no fingertip, and certainly no cathedral length. I’m a birdcage fan all the way. I want something I can wear all day without getting tangled or caught on anything.
Some say the second coming of the birdcage’s popularity will be short lived: it’s just a fad and the long veil will return with ferocity. Images like these lead me to disagree (or at the very least, hop on the birdcage wagon before it leaves town):

One of the best parts about consulting at a small bridal shop is the sharing of resources. Shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, the brides I’ve worked with have found some of the best. The most recent resource discovery is Poetic Licence, makers of perfect shoes. Upon googling the brand, I immediately recognized the designs from my time spent on Anthropologie’s site. No wonder I loved the pair a bride brought with her to yesterday’s appointment. The brand has so many unique styles, there is bound to be one or more pairs that are suitable for any given wedding. Here are some of my favorites, beginning with a very straightforward and wedding appropriate style:
Check out their main site for kooky everyday shoes, too. You’ll find some real gems.

Remember in the late nineties Seventeen magazine used to feature readers’ bedrooms? My favorite was a room with different colored toile patterns all over. Her walls were covered in toile, toile bedspread, toile pillows, toile everywhere! And I always understood her obsession with the pattern.
Today at Urban Outfitters I saw a hanging toile dress form and I really want one for myself, though I imagine they are pricey. Googling the pattern, I came across this:
Though this guy is totally off topic, it led me to a search of wedding related blue toile items. Here’s what I found:

Images for my insatiable sweet tooth. Also, I am ecstatic about the new Spicy Hot Cocoa at Wyckoff Starr! A winter treat to replace summer’s Iced Grasshopper. And no caffeine to give me the shakes! Well played Wyckoff Starr.

A short time into our engagement, Cesar and I discussed the idea of getting a taco cart to cater our wedding. I mentioned the idea to an acquaintance one day and got a snicker that seemed to be saying, “Could you BEEE anymore of a wannabe hipster?” If anything, I’m a wannabe Mexican.
I would still love to hire a taco cart, but it would work best if we were getting married in a park somewhere. That doesn’t mean we can’t ask the caterer at the Metropolitan Building to make us traditional tacos, though! These tacos from a California wedding featured on the Project Wedding Blog look so good!!

I thought the pumpkin cider soup I was eating for lunch was the most delicious thing I’ve looked at today. Then I saw this cake on Grey Likes Weddings.
